Apart from being situated in the "Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty"
which follows the Wye from Hereford to Chepstow (one of the most beautiful areas
in the country) we are surrounded by other famous beauty spots such as: The
Royal Forest of Dean, Malvern and Cotswold Hills, Vale of Evesham, Brecon Beacons
National Park, Black Mountains, Golden Valley, Radnor Forest and Elan Valley and
many castles and abbeys such as Tintern Abbey and the castles at Eastnor and
Goodrich. All these make The Bowens Country Hotel an ideal home during
a sight-seeing or activity holiday in this area.
Historic Hereford Cathedral contains the famous medieval "Mappa Mundi", whilst
Gloucester Cathedral is renowned for its stain glass windows. Together with
Worcester, these fine Cathedrals are home to the annual Three Choirs Festival.
Other yearly attractions include the Hay-on-Wye and Ross-on Wye Music and Literature
Festivals and the Malvern Flower Show. Also plenty of countryside fairs and agicultural

The well known "Black and White Village Trail", including villages such as
Leominster, Weobley and Ledbury are on the doorstep.
In addition, Herefordshire is famous for its hops, cider and beef cattle and the blossom of
the orchards in spring defies description as do the glorious colours of
the woods in autumn.
Hereford has a fine selection of exclusive and traditional shops and restaurants
including the wonderful "Left Bank" area set on the banks of the Wye in the centre
of town. Evening entertainment incudes a theatre and cinema.
